When you see the consequences of binge drinking, you wonder why anyone should choose alcohol as a solution to their problems. So why do people drink and how does it make them vulnerable to a satanic attack?
Violent attacks, aggressive responses, and out-of-control sexual behavior are just some of the symptoms of drinking too much. The consequences can be even worse; Police arrest, family breakdown, job loss, rape (victims and perpetrators of) are just some of the scenarios that can follow a drunkenness. The price society pays is even higher. The very fabric of our communities is threatened by demonic drinking as the culprits grow younger and younger. The devil can have a picnic with such a powerful ally.
However, all the associations society makes when it comes to alcohol are positive. Having a drink is still most people’s idea of celebration and a way to have a good time. Friday night is the perfect excuse to drink yourself into oblivion. For some, Saturday night brings a rerun. The holidays are really just a cover for a non-stop alcohol festival that often leads to even more embarrassing behavior. Revenge the next morning is painful and nauseating, but still the whole experience is disguised as something to be desired.
I wonder how many people really enjoy doing this kind of harm to themselves, and how much of it is peer pressure and bragging. The number of pints that men can drink is correlated with masculinity, and for women, the more bottles of wine they have, the more they impress their friends. Meanwhile, the health consequences and the psychological damage caused are immeasurable. Drinking is an escape route.
It’s so much better to have a life that you don’t need to escape from. The way to do this is to rebuild your spiritual ties.
Spiritual connections are damaged by too much alcohol. If you are on a journey of faith and trying to balance drinking with a relationship with Christ, you are deluding yourself. The devil works by suggestion and the more he drinks, the more vulnerable he is to these suggestions. Have you noticed how people’s perceptions change with alcohol? Why do they become more aggressive, more self-pitying, paranoid, desperate for attention? All these are the lies of the devil that find a perfect foothold in the drunken mind.
People drink to relax, to relax, to feel happier, but everything indicates that alcohol has a completely opposite effect. It tightens the muscles, makes the heart work faster, and strains the mind. The only way out is to quit smoking altogether, and the best way to quit is to invoke Jesus as your savior. The quickest route to unwinding is to throw away the bottle and turn your worries over to the Lord.
