As summer approaches, garden movies become more and more popular. Whether you are planning to buy an inflatable movie screen for a birthday party or planning to create your own summer movie festival, there are several things to consider when purchasing your screen.

Look for a screen designed for outdoor movies – Most screens made for outdoor use are inflatable and must be wind resistant. Depending on the size of the screen, they will have different tolerances for the wind, but all should have ties and stakes to drive into the ground. The great thing about inflatable displays is that if the wind is blowing most of the time, the display will flex and not break like a solid frame model. If you can’t nail it to the ground due to the scenery or if you are showing it on the pavement, you need to make sure you have some weights or sandbags.

Understand how it inflates – Although most inflatable movie screens are similar in how they inflate, some have internal fans and some have external fans that inflate. Also, some will inflate faster than others and may take more than one person to do so. There is no right or wrong system and much of it is determined by the size of the screen you use, but you must take that into account so that when you go to inflate the screen there are no surprises. Also one thing to remember is that all screens have zippers that are used to open when you deflate the screen. It’s good to know where they are before trying to inflate it so you don’t have a problem on show night. Open zippers are the number one problem when a screen does not inflate properly.

Get a screen with black borders – Some manufacturers try to make the screens as large as possible by making the screen go directly to the edge of the inflatable. While this may seem like a good idea, not having a black border around the screen does not give the film the “pop” it should get and some of the image may appear to fade around the edges. Since you are outside, you cannot obscure the viewing area as much as possible, as you can inside due to ambient lighting, street lights, stars, and neighbors’ house, so you need all the help you can get. to make the film brilliant.

Get the right screen size for your backyard theater – Bigger is not always better. You need to look at the size of your backyard, where you are going to show the movie, where everyone is going to sit before you can determine the size of the movie screen. Just like in a real movie theater, sitting in the front row is not always the best seat. If you have a small backyard, a smaller screen will be just as good as a more expensive larger screen. Also consider the aspect ratio of the screen. Widescreen movies with a 16: 9 aspect ratio work better with newer widescreen movies rather than with a 4: 3 aspect ratio.

Consider the type of projector you will be using – An HD projector will show a much better image and you can get a bigger screen and people will be able to sit closer and not see pixel lines if they did with a standard projector. Also, an HD projector works best with a wide screen and a 16: 9 ratio screen.

What better way to enjoy the stars under the stars. Creating your own backyard movie will make it a family and neighborhood hit.
