ATTENTION FIRST

Considering that we spend our entire lives using it to think, we humans are very adept at ignoring our minds when they give clear messages that all is not well at the top end of the human operating system.

A GP once told me that long before stress-related illness begins in the body, the mind will send out a clear and unequivocal message that things cannot stay the way they are. I was surprised to hear a GP say something that I would have considered a bit alternative, a bit out of the way the sun is a bit out, and to realize that after 27 years in his profession, he firmly believed that this was to be true.

This made it clear to me that taking care of my thoughts and how they manifested was an important step in regaining control of my life and protecting my physical body. At the time I was mainly concerned with my thoughts and how they transferred to my body as anxiety and fear, I hadn’t thought about how they might be stressing the body.

Today we are much more aware of the effects of mental stress on the emotions and the body and yet too many people continue to struggle in their daily lives instead of saying ‘stop… what is going on here and how can I change it? ? ‘

EVERYONE FIGHTS NO?

Have you fallen in love with this myth? The idea that life must be a struggle, only 1% of our societies achieve their dreams, and the rest of us must do the best we can with the limited amount of good luck life has left to offer?

This is the worst kind of thinking possible, completely unnecessary, fundamentally untrue, and it represents an early grave for your dreams. Don’t get involved in it. You don’t have to believe what others believe, and it’s incredibly important that you don’t. May you completely separate yourself from the beliefs of others and begin to live life under your own steam, on your own terms.

Scientists are proving over and over again that our thoughts have a huge impact on our actions and outcomes, including our physical health. The link between thoughts, beliefs and disease is proven quite conclusively, and the power of the human mind is respected as never before. We are not the victims of the past, we have the mental processing power to be the creators of the future.

WHAT?

Very good question. Let’s start with what you may not know about yourself. For example, do you know that your subconscious mind represents more than 95% of your mind? It actually represents more than 95% of you, because your subconscious mind is your body.

Your mind trains your body in physical reactions like fear, anxiety, anger, by programming receptors around the edge of your cells with those automatic reactions. When I first read this it didn’t seem feasible, however about 30 minutes later I had an anxious reaction and felt very clearly traveling from my stomach to my head, not originating in my mind. My body told my mind what to think about. The more the body tells the mind what to think about, the more neurons are created for that thought, until the mind takes over with anxiety.

That was quite revealing. The way you create happier, more positive, proactive thoughts is to train those reactions out of your cells and replace them with healthier ones. It’s surprisingly easy if you’re willing to engage in a little science-based meditation and read a book.

How to “break the habit of being yourself”

I am referring to a book by Dr. Joe Dispenza, an American author and scientist who has done more than 20 years of research on this phenomenon. His courses are often attended by neurologists and neuroscientists, who study the results with scanners so they can literally see the changes that are taking place.

I had undiagnosed acute anxiety for over 22 years, and it took me another 10 years to get it under control. By that I mean I was aware that my anxiety was a disease, I took steps to control it, which often meant giving myself a good pep talk, and it became manageable.

Then I went to a conference in London in 2019 called The Conference for Consciousness and Human Evolution, which taught me several more things I didn’t know about myself and completely changed my understanding of who and what I was as a human being; as well as my abilities.

Remember that these were trained scientists who spoke that day, one from as far away as Russia. Scientists who presented research to us, who have put their reputations on the line in many books that, although under the title of self-help, go much further. Those reputations are still intact and they are still investigating and learning more.

It was in that course that I bought the book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” and also the meditation set on double CD ROM. A month later, not always following the program correctly, I was able to describe my anxiety as ‘normal’.

By this I mean that when there is a reason to be anxious, like everyone else, I feel anxious. To put that in perspective, I had to have a tooth pulled last summer. I was sick of losing another tooth, slightly worried before the extraction, and my stomach was a little tense when I woke up that morning. However, my most important feeling was “thank God that is today, I will be happy to finish it”.

He hadn’t gone through the usual process of visualizing everything that could go wrong and more. I accepted that they were going to take out a tooth and it would be just that. He had warned me that the tooth might break, to which I did not reply, “Oh my lord, are you going to have to remove it with a road drill?” or similar. I just said “but you’ll be able to deal with it, right? Isn’t this your first extraction?” She said yes, I quit.

I walked out of that dental office smiling from ear to ear. I hadn’t tensed up in the chair, as I had told my husband “it’s his problem not mine, he has to deal with this to my satisfaction” and let him move on. I literally sat there and waited until they took it down, then went home.

That was a big change for me, like a huge Grand Canyon Plus!

CONSCIOUS SELF-CARE

Going back to the original point that all self-care must start with the mind, the best way to create a new mind, because that’s what you would be doing, is through meditation, but not just any old meditation. One that shows you how to reprogram that mind and takes you through a process from relaxing to recognizing old patterns, eradicating them, retraining your mind for better thoughts, and then teaching you how to envision a better, healthier future.

My personal recommendation is that you look at the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza, and also Bruce Lipton and Gregg Braden. Lynne McTaggert is another author to watch out for. Start at that point and, as you know, you will find your way to other people who will help you.

WHAT ABOUT PHYSICAL HEALTH?

Knowledge on how to take care of the human body is abundant, but have you ever realized that you know what you have to do but you just don’t do it? That’s because your cellular programming is interfering with your conscious desires.

Starting by changing that mindset, you’ll find it much easier to do what’s right for your body. Anyone who has lost weight on a proscribed diet, gained all the weight back, and more, faster than they lost it, will find that something is interfering with their genuine desire to be thinner. Reprogram that mind to reprogram those cells, and you’ll find yourself wondering why the food you eat was ever a problem.

If it works for you as it did for me, and you remember that I am undisciplined and would often miss two or three days of the program and have to retake it, you will find that the bad thoughts are gone.

THE KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESS

  1. You really want to do this.

  2. Research until you’re sure this feels right, that way you won’t question every step of the way and undo your own success.

  3. You think you can do this.

If you can do those three things, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t feel a lot better three months from now.
