Having seen quite a few articles on many forums, I was intrigued how one person could have over a thousand sites. Then I found the concept of the autoblog. The basic idea of the autoblog site is that the site you create will get its content from other relevant sites on the Internet; then you should never have to touch it or write articles for it.
You need to have a running website to get started and I would recommend using WordPress for this. WordPress is free and fairly easy for someone with a reasonable amount of computer knowledge to install. I can’t say I’ve seen autoblogging software on other non-WordPress sites, but of course I hope you’ll correct me. Once you have your WordPress site up and running, you’ll need to install the autoblog software. Again this is pretty straightforward, the main problem people have is getting the software, via cron to update the posts.
Although once it’s up and running, the site will take care of itself. You will have to find the source of the content yourself. This is done by directing the autoblog software to an RSS feed. RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” and is a means for website owners to publish some or all of their latest information in a feed format. What this means is that you could have a reader on your desktop that feeds you information from your favorite websites. If you’ve seen a news ticker scrolling across a screen or website, it’s a form of feed. Typically the feed will have a clickable link, so if you’re interested, you can click on the source article. The Autoblog software takes this a step further and posts the information on its website.
To find the content, all you have to do is go to relevant websites and see if they link to an RSS feed. You can also use Google and write RSS and the topic that interests you. It could say it in the text or it could be a little orange button that you can click on. Typically this will show the type of information they are displaying. I find it very difficult to find full feeds that are naturally better than summary feeds as they complete your website better.
I would also say check the data you get for the first week or so. I recently posted a good source of DVD reviews and found that I then spent the next three weeks with the US election news.
