Mercedes Benz R-Class is a combination of luxury saloon, sports station, MPV and SUV concepts. It’s MPV because it has six seats, SUV because it uses permanent 4-wheel drive, plus the DSR and off-road function that helps drivers handle the steep climb. It is also a Luxury Saloon for the material used for the interior of the R class and comfort, the design took the specifications of the concept of a luxury sedan.

R500 series powered by a 5000cc V8 engine while the R350 powered by a 3500cc V6 engine. R500 makes 306 hp at 5,600 rpm, while the R350 makes 272 hp at 6,000 rpm. The R500’s torque is 460 Nm from 2,700 to 4,750 rpm, while the R350 produces 350 Nm from 2,400 to 5,000 rpm. The R500 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds, while the R350 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.
The top speed of the two series is not too significant, with the top speed of the R500 being 245 km/h and the R350 being 230 km/h. To accommodate speed, the R500 uses 18-inch wheels (5 split-spokes) while the R350 uses 17-inch wheels (7 double-spokes).
Security and Technology
This car is equipped with a 7g-tronic electronic stick (automatic transmission stick that can reach seven speeds). Like other Mercedes-Benz series, the lighting system in the R-Class also has an automatic adjustment function. The system will adjust the illumination emitted by the received light pressure. Mercedes Benz R-Class also has a rain sensor where the wipers will automatically turn on when it rains and adjust to the rate and amount of rain.
The air conditioning systems used by the R-Class are Thermotronic or a multizone system that allows the temperature on the left, right and rear to be set automatically or manually. This system works according to the solar sensor that can detect the direction and heat of sunlight. For the headlights, Mercedes Benz R-Class uses Bi-Xenon light, the best lighting system today.
The Bi-Xenon light has three functions: Active Light System, when the speed is between 40-70 km/hour, and when the car turns, the headlights will follow the path so that the lighting reaches maximum illumination. Likewise, when the car is up or down, the headlights will adjust automatically. There is also the cornering light which works to give an extra warning to vehicles or people around the car if the car wants to turn (not the turn signal or light).
The other security systems are ABS, ESP, BAS and alarms to prevent theft. For the R500 series, there is another feature which is keyless-Go, a feature that allows the driver to start the engine without taking the key out of the bag.
Multimedia and Comfort
For multimedia, the Mercedes Benz R-Class has similar features with the S-Class series or CL-Class series. The COMAND APS function that integrates radio, DVD and telephone operation is one of them. The COMAND APS function can also be used to view the map (GPRS).
Six-CD changer (MP3 compatible) with 20 audio system with optional $1,190 Harmon Kardon Logic 7 audio system is also included in the R-Class multimedia features. Steering wheel equipped with auxiliary controls for audio system , information and telephone (if available).
