Puppy Rescue Adoption

Puppy rescue adoption is often the only thing people think about when it comes to rescues. Puppy mills and puppies left in the kennel or left on a secondary road. Yes, this is a big deal, but there is another generation of dogs that come from these puppy mills that are often overlooked or not even considered.

They are mature dogs or seniors. These dogs have usually had a life that we could never even imagine. Kept in cages all her life, the female would reproduce every time she went into heat. All so that the owner of the mill could earn a few dollars.

Conditions are often horrible. The animals are fed enough to keep them alive and reproducing, the cages are stacked on top of each other. Just think what passive dogs have to live with. Grooming is not even considered and there is no interaction with humans other than raising and taking the pups out. They never get out of these conditions unless the mill is raided and shut down.

A puppy rescue

I heard about this case of a puppy that was saved only because the employee could not comply with the orders. The owner of the mill had no use for puppies that weren’t perfect and cheerful (at least until the sale). The clerk came across this puppy who was a bit lethargic and the owner told him, “Throw him into the burning barrel.” Yes, that’s right, “the barrel on fire.” Thank goodness the employee couldn’t do this and hid the puppy until he went home. and he took the cub with her. The puppy was saved and fed until he regained his health and the employee reported the mill and it was closed.

But often this happens without warning. Mill owners generally stay outside the country and do not allow buyers to visit the mill. They take the puppies to flea markets or load them into vans and deliver them to the puppy broker. These pups often travel across the United States from the West Coast to the East Coast to go to pet stores. They pack them into vans in the heat and don’t even give them anything to drink until they arrive. The ones that didn’t make it are just considered cancelled.

Puppy rescue adoption is wonderful, but please don’t just think about puppies. Adult dogs are wonderful and will bond with you just as much as a puppy. The advantage of adopting an adult dog is that you know what you are getting.

Why the fee?

Ransoms charge a fee and this often annoys people. They think the rescues are selling the dogs, this is not the case. Little do they realize that the rescued dogs have been taken to the vet for a full checkup. They have been tested for various diseases and treated, if any are found, they have also been sterilized. This is usually a much larger expense than the adoption fee. The dogs have been adopted to help them adjust to a real home life.
