Sri Lanka is an intriguing city to visit with its rich history and culture. Like all other countries, it would be a site to behold when compared to what you are used to. There are several things that you can see and do in this place to make this an enriching experience.

1.) Yala National Park

This park is also known as Ruhunu National Park and can be located in the southeast region of Sri Lanka. One can start enjoying the refreshing view of the park. You can also wander around the area while viewing leopards here from a safe distance.

2.) Temple of the Tooth

Here is the temple that houses the tooth which is believed to be one of Buddha’s teeth and is a relic they keep in the temple. It is a very sacred site for believers that you may be interested in visiting and seeing. They even have a website for this in case you are interested in finding out more about it.

3.) Colombo

The capital of the country is a good place to be where you can visit some museums for a little trip into history. What you can find is the National Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Dutch Period Museum and the Bandaranaike Museum. They all bear witness to various aspects of Sri Lankan history that visitors can see and be amazed at.

4.) Art Galleries

Art lovers will find something to talk about when they visit the National Gallery of Art. You can also find a similar visual treat by visiting the Sapumal Foundation and the Lionel Wendt Center. It is good to see and compare some things that may be different from your own culture with those of others and appreciate the things we see.

5.) zoo

The Colombo Zoo is a delight for children and their parents, and it is located in the southern part of the city. In fact it’s a nice place to be with an aquarium and night house to see and there are elephant shows you can watch too. Are you fond of butterflies? Then come see their butterfly park and a few more animal exhibits, and it’s pretty big, so give it at least two hours to do the full rounds.

6.) Festivals in Jaffna

You will not be surprised to see a few more temples to visit in this place. It has the temples of Nallur, Selva Sannithi and Ninatheevu. Festivals that are religious in nature are something you would also expect from this place, and there is the Chariot Festival, which is considered a big event in Sri Lanka, as well as the harvest festival held every January.

7.) Kinchigune Nature Trail

This trail starts at Sabaragamuwa University, which runs along a forest and a river. By following this trail you can see rice fields, village houses and vegetables and this is a way to get a tutorial on their farming system and get a taste of the simple Sri Lankan style life. You can also find waterfalls, some more birds and butterflies to enjoy the hike.

8.) Boating

If canoeing is your favorite past time, enjoy the Samanalawewa Reservoir with its calm waters that make this a good activity to try. You can even row to the Belihul Oya River for more adventures. Or you can simply explore the entire reservoir for a relaxing ride on the water.

9.) Bambarakada Falls

This waterfall is a sight to see because it is located inside a basin-shaped valley and surrounded by steep rocks and a forest full of tropical trees and pine trees. It is the highest known waterfall in Sri Lanka, falling to a height of 240 meters. The waterfalls will continue to be a favorite place for tourists due to their great beauty.

10.) gall

You should not miss the Kalutara temple located in this city. It is considered good luck if you come to the Seenigama temple and offer a donation after murmuring a small prayer. There is also the Fort where you can walk especially to see the majestic sunset.
