Folio 6 Limited Edition

Macallan’s newest limited edition release, the Macallan Folio 6, is set to be available to consumers in the first quarter of 2021. The whisky will be sold in Macallan boutiques in the Dubai, London Heathrow, and Taiwan Taoyuan airports. The whisky will retail for around PS250 and comes in a book-shaped tin.

The brand’s chairman, Allan Shiach, suggested the ideas for the campaign. The admen bridled at suggestions from above but stuck to their task and came up with a brilliant solution – the Chairman! The ad campaign remains a cherished memory for many. In fact, the brand has since released many other limited editions, including the Macallan Folio 6!

The Macallan Folio 6 is the latest addition to its Archival Series. Originally released in 2015, it pays tribute to the brand’s iconic advertising campaigns. This edition features Allan Shiach, the brand’s chairman in 1984. Shiach’s image and words are also featured on the bottle’s label. It will be available for purchase at airports in Dubai, London, and Taiwan.

In a series of 24 releases, Folio 6 is the third limited edition of the brand. It contains 70cl and is part of the Archival Series. This edition is packaged in a tin-book-style package with a hardback book and a Victorian-style Punch magazine. The design relates to the first advert for Macallan, which was in the Times. The whisky also features notes of dried fruits, vanilla, and wood smoke.

The Archival Series celebrates the iconic Macallan print advertising campaigns of the 1970s to the 1990s. Known for their humorous approach, these ads were credited with helping shape the brand’s reputation as a single malt. The Archival Series Folios are available through an online ballot and sold for around $250-$300 each. It will continue to be sold for the foreseeable future.

The Macallan Folio 6 is one of the 24 releases in the Archival Series, which pays homage to the iconic brand’s early advertising campaigns. The collection also includes several film and print campaigns from the brand’s history. The bottle’s elegant design and smooth finish are reminiscent of the brand’s classic sherried expressions. A taste of this whiskey will evoke memories of the brand’s first advert, which featured the name Allan Shiach as the brand’s chairman.
