The Center for Open Leadership and Anti-Corruption, CACOL, writes to congratulate Adegboyega Oyetola, Executive Governor of Osun State, on the first (1) year of taking office today.

Debo Adeniran, president of CACOL, in a released statement stated that although you were an integral part of the last administration, ably led by our scholarly and cerebral icon, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (currently on a national assignment), your emergence became even more so. sweeter for those experiences, especially the legal hurdles he had to overcome before the administration ship could finally set sail.

In hindsight, one could effectively say that the Osun state has not lacked competent men and women to direct its affairs with word and deed since its creation and official removal from the former Oyo state on August 27, 1991, and Theopilus Bamigboye served as a pioneering state administrator. just before Mr. Adebisi Akande joined as our first elected Executive Governor on May 9, 1999.

From the epoch-creation of our noble state and now into your assumption of the post of exalted governor, our state has grown by leaps and bounds as we traverse the idyllic, rural setting to an urban, cosmopolitan state that is ready to prove its worth. in the community of states within the Nigerian federation.

There is also no doubt that we have had our own fair share of challenges as a fledgling state, one of which includes moving smoothly from one administration to another through a democratic process; since we all agree that this should be our ideal model for the achievement of power and governance among our people.

Therefore, it is to the merit of our great indigenous people of our state, that we achieve it without any impediment, impediment or bloodshed of any kind.

In addition, we are closely monitoring their remarkable progress and efforts to transform Osun state from its ‘civil servant’ status to a modern agrarian and industrialized state where all of its tourism endowments are properly harnessed for the benefit of all.

Aside from our rich natural resources like bauxite, gold, marble, uranium, etc., Osun Osogbo Spring Fall is just one of the many tourist attractions we boast of, perhaps more than any other state in the federation.

This is in addition to the friendly and fertile land and climate that provided much of the cacao pyramid during the era of the western region from which most of the achievements were made. We have no doubt that he has consistently and determinedly focused on changing the socioeconomic destiny of the state forever in this regard.

As CACOL, we pledge our full and pure commitment and support to undertake this journey with you in our own unique way. That is why we have started the Osun state version of the ‘Lagos Open Parliament (LOP) dubbed the Osun Open Parliament (OOP), which is starting this year, all other things being equal.

It is to examine areas of achievement and fulfillment of campaign promises and more for the good people of our beloved state, while also serving as a wake-up call to your concerns and potential disappointments.

The Iresi Festival of Arts and Culture, Commerce and Sports (I-FACTS) and the Oyeladeniran Center for Arts, Recreation, Crafts and Sports (O-CARTS), annual events that also usually take place in Iresi, is another of the sociocultural pastimes of our rural environment. Iresi village with its display of unique nature totems and cultural reminiscences that His Excellency had honored in previous years as Chief of Staff to the immediate previous governor.

We intend to make it more colorful and consolidated under your leadership, with your anticipated support and assistance. This is most appreciated for the mere fact that our organization’s echelon of leadership at the Center for Combating Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) comes from this very state which rightly prides itself on being the ‘Omoluwabi’ state. or the state of Virtue, while we readily accept and accept and integrate others from the vast Yoruba nation in particular and Nigeria by extension.

Once again, happy anniversary to your esteemed government and kindly accept the assurance of our continued support.
