Item #1: Where is the spa located? How much gas will he spend to visit this spa? After all, spas are expensive enough, so why spend another $20 just driving there? You may want to consider location, but this is certainly NOT the only consideration, and in fact, it MAY be worth a few extra miles if you’ve received a recommendation for a good massage therapist.

Item #2: What services do you offer? If this is for you, you already know what services you are looking for. If it’s for a friend or loved one as a gift, find out what kinds of spa services they’ve used in the past to see if the spa you’re researching offers these services. Many of the common services offered by spas include, of course, massage therapy, facials, pedicures, manicures, salt shines, mud wraps, and others.

Item #3: Is there a rating available? Some of the best day spas may have received awards or votes from area newspapers or magazines. Do some Google searches in your local area for a Day Spa and see what comes up. Make sure there aren’t a lot of negative reports online. This is not too common for day spas, so be careful if you come across such reports. Of course, you may need to take this with a grain of salt, but be smart and use common sense.

Item #4: What is the cost? Prices can vary widely in the cost of day spa services. If it is a gift, find out what is important to the person receiving the gift. Someone can want a manicure/pedicure and not really like massages! If it’s posible. Someone may love massages but don’t want any manicure/pedicure services. So do your research before you spend $100-$200 on a full day spa package. You may be able to give a great gift for $50-$100 or even less, depending on what your loved one really wants.

Item #5: Finally, how are you treated when you call for information? Do they treat you with respect and take care of you? The person at a desk in a spa can be a reflection of the management and overall satisfaction of the clients. Of course, not always, but it IS the job of the front desk person to make sure that they can at least be polite, answer your questions, or find an answer to your question if you don’t know. They should be able to provide prices and available appointment times without a problem. Just be nice to them too!

Well, good luck on your search for a day spa!
