I am the mother of three grown children and the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren. I can honestly tell you that although I love flowers and lunches or dinners, what I really love are the memories and the love I have for my children and the love they have for me. Mother’s Day, for me, is a day that I remember when my children were born and how small they were. I have memories of her first bath and hitting them with a towel. Memories of laughing when they smiled: the hugs, the kisses, and watching them grow into the wonderful adults and parents they have become.

So if you’re getting mom something for Mother’s Day and you really want to make it special, buy her something to remind her of the days when you were little and put a note on it that says “I’m glad you’re my mom.” Or buy something for her garden and include a note that says. “I remember helping you tend your garden and I miss that, Mom.” Make it personal, make it real, and most of all, MAKE IT FROM THE HEART!

I know we all live in a busy world and sometimes we just have time to stop and buy mom a card, send her flowers or call her to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day. Yes, it’s nice to be reminded of Mother’s Day, but it’s nice to know that you took the time to express true feelings of love.

Moms are very special people. They always love their children, no matter what.

I’m sorry I never expressed to my mother how special she was. I bought her flowers and cards, but I never told her how special she was. She’s gone now and

I think of her often. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for her and I know it now.

Make your mom feel special this Mother’s Day. Let her know that she appreciates her and she always will. You’ll warm her heart and, yes, you might even make her cry. But those will be tears of love and you can’t do any better than that.

Happy Mother’s Day to all those moms who read this. You are special and your children are special.

Remember: she is the only mom you have!
