Creating expansive outdoor living spaces beyond the pool on the acreage of your farmhouse is to be in a dynamic conversation with the beauty of nature and the elements of art. Older pool covers were smaller and more enclosed, preventing you from absorbing the energies of nature. The new return to normal includes the outdoors as an extension of the house. Creating larger outdoor dining spaces, a fire pit, and using old architectural elements that bring new energy and connectivity to open spaces.

The architectural arch of the triple-arched veranda is the focal point of this patio where the family has a state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen. The old-style doors of the arched façade open from the interior of the house towards the courtyard. The patio sofa and chairs are made from reclaimed wood and the ornate carved details make it stand out from ordinary patio furniture. An old Tibetan mortar serves as herb storage for newly grown oregano, basil and thyme. The old bullock cart bench reminds you of Game of Thrones, so eclectic and unique. The stairs have beautifully carved teak banisters salvaged from an estate in Jaipur, leading up to the garden, where a pair of majestic black granite elephants embrace you, trunks up, welcoming you in an extravagant statement.

The granite Buddha sits under the pergola, serene and calm in the earth-touching mudra, the gray tones of the stone are natural and beautiful. His eyes closed in meditation, the calm and divinity of his energy embraces the entire house. Natural foliage and flowering shrubs play his song as nature sings his lullaby. Eating freshly cooked food in such an environment is very holistic and empowering. Family and friends gather every year for Thanksgiving and enjoy the gardens at their best.

The fire pit is a must as winters are cold, the sturdy natural stone design was created keeping in mind that fire is purifying and in ancient times it was in fact an energy cleansing ritual. A seating area was added around it as were statues and ram’s head marble pots were used for the beautiful plants that have inhabited the farm for several years. The pool was moved beyond the lounge area with a fire pit and a hot tub was added for relaxation. An ancient Indian gate serves as the garden gate leading to the pool area. They served as the front doors to an old Indian mansion and have aged beautifully and are hand carved with beautiful ornate detail. The conscious use of old architectural pieces and old wood creates beautiful outdoor spaces that are in harmony with nature.
