Based on the novel, “Naked Laws of God Alone” by Basel Pelliam and Irvin Orlewicz, “Situs to Gel Diskon Terbesar Yaitu 4d” is the sequel of his first novel, “The Naked Laws of God Alone.” In this book, the author tells the story of the young daughter of King Afhgan. King Afhgan is a strict and regal king who rules over a large kingdom, yet he is loving and kind hearted. He rules his people with an iron hand but the people around him live in utter poverty and deceit. One day, a visitor from the West called Jesus Christ visits the kingdom and tells the king that he will marry the young Aminah, but the king worries about his growing power and ability to control the masses.
Aminah agrees to marry him, but before they go to the wedding, the king’s advisor, General Sukhoth, tries to convince the King to purchase an oil deposit which the general says is rich in minerals. King Afhgan agrees to the deal but his advisors try to stop him, stating that he already has too many enemies. King Aminah sends messengers to the kings of the surrounding regions to inform them of his decision to marry Aminah and to inform them of his willingness to place a bet 100 perak dengan hadith (in bet form) on whom Aminah and her dowry should be bet upon. However, Aminah’s advisor negotiates with them stating that since the dowry is already in the possession of the kingdom, there is no need for them to place a bet.
The next day, however, the king returns from a long journey having received only one bid for the terbesar. General Sukhoth tells Aminah that there is still a chance to obtain the terbesar and it is through this bonus deposit that they will get their chance. General Sukhoth appoints four men from his retinue as representatives of Aminah and she sends her princess to accompany them. These four representatives go to the capital of Bairat and negotiate directly with the treasurer of the fortress, Adasi. Within two days, Adasi accepts the terms and both sides reach an agreement.
Book Review
The next day, the four representatives go to the treasurer’s palace where he agrees to release the bonus deposit and the two parties sign the agreement in front of a number of witnesses. This agreement finally results into the formation of the ‘Nur Maslam Bahad’ or the Nasal Army. On 25 January, King Aminu takes over the fortress of Bairat after defeating Adasi at the battle. Five months later, the army retires back to Amman after Aminu marries the second lady of the land, Ayub Bin Daud.
Situs To Gel is the story of how Aminu and her forces retreat back to Amman after a brief war against the pretender of the throne, Tekkeh, who is made the king of Egypt by Hamed. The Nasal Army that fought for Aminu during the war is led by a woman called ‘Kuda’, who is a friend of Aminu’s mother. After the war is over, Aminu establishes her tentunya or house at Tentunya. The book ends with Aminu travelling to Amman to see her father, however she does not want to see her uncle.
This is the first of two volumes of the four part Diskon Terbus Dereon (Disk On The Plain Of Man). Part two is entitled Yang Ber Hubbardden Setiatogel, which covers topics such as the role of religion in post-colonial Africa, Aminu’s relations with Germany, and her view of the role of women in society. This is an excellent book for any student of social sciences who wishes to continue their research on religious studies, gender issues and politics in the 21st century.
