Sony Ericsson makes its presence felt with its mobile phones displaying grandeur and elegance of the highest degree. These phones are the favorites of the contemporary generation that seeks to turn heads with their flashy accessories. These phones, particularly the Sony Ericsson G900 and the Sony Ericsson G502, bring with them the freshness of each season.

With each new launch, Sony Ericsson introduces new and urban features to attract potential customers. With the arrival of the new G series, the illustrious brand has set a benchmark for the mobile phone industry. These phones have exemplary styling and unique add-on features plus all the advanced features without which a phone would be considered below average. The Sony Ericsson G900 is one of those creations that is itself a surprise package. Within a not-so-fancy framework, it has all the features that can tag it as a smartphone. It didn’t take more than a month for another star of this galaxy to appear, the Sony Ericsson G502, offering a firm commitment to unbeatable performance and delivery. A comparison between the two is not an easy task as both of them did well in the market due to their own qualities and assets.
To get started, let’s explore the older of the two brothers: the Sony Ericsson G900. It cannot be contradicted that this phone does not look like a high-end device. He looks decent and withdrawn which actually surprised everyone because style and grandeur had been the main motto of Sony Ericsson. But just after the phone was turned on, his charm made everyone praise him. It is one of those phones that doesn’t look like a smartphone but has everything that makes a regular mobile phone a smartphone.

It comes with UMTS network, WLAN – Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and USB 2.0. Sending and receiving large files from your phone to PC is child’s play with them. The 5 MP camera does everything a veteran photographer’s kit does, from autofocus to image stabilization. Your images will look even more animated than the actual object with that ultra-clear, high-resolution (2592 x 1944 pixels) camera. The user friendly interface of this phone makes navigation easy and enjoyable.

Unfortunately, it also has some drawbacks. HSDPA lost; almost all high-end mobiles come with it to avoid connectivity problems. Therefore, the reception strength of the network is below expectations. Missing GPS. Connectivity will lose strength the moment you cross the limits. Bluetooth transfer speed is not up to par. It has an internal memory of 160 MB and a slot for Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards. However, it does not bring a memory card with it.
Still, this phone is good value for money. Now moving on to her little sister (sister, because the Sony Ericsson G502’s codename is Emelie), this Symbian-powered device weighs a mere 83.5 grams. It has a Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and USB for data sharing. The G502 is a web-centric device with a WAP 2.0/HTML (NetFront 3.4) browser so you’ll never be discouraged by connection issues.

Access your webmail and POP3/IMAP client email accounts also from your G502 which supports Exchange ActiveSync for complete mobility. The RSS feed makes sure you get the latest news and updates from your favorite websites right on your phone. The G502 is a sure upgrade as it comes with 3G and HSDPA for great download speeds, which the G900 lacked. Now, you don’t need your PC to print your photos. The G502 comes with PictBridge which helps you print images directly from your phone.

Unfortunately, the phrase “Not everyone is perfect” even applies to mobile phones. The G502 has a 2 MP camera as opposed to the 5 MP camera on the Sony Ericsson G900. Therefore, it produces mediocre images. The display on this phone has poor readability in direct sunlight. It does not come with a secondary video call camera. The G502 has a very uncomfortable D-pad.
