If you’re looking for information on how to make gold in World of Warcraft, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, I’m going to point out some great methods, locations, and tips for farming gold in Northrend. So, I’m not going to waste your time with useless pomp and just get to the point.

Methods of Farming Gold in Northrend

  • Auction House Betting – This method is still one of the best ways to get gold in WoW, even in the Wrath of the Lich King era, and probably the best in Cataclysm as well. You can make a lot of gold by buying and reselling items that players often need.
  • Grinding various creatures: This method is 100% profitable, since you don’t have to invest anything other than your time. There are plenty of mobs that drop valuable loot in Northrend, such as elementals, humanoids, and undead, and of course beasts, especially if you’re a skinner.
  • Crafting – Combining crafting with the auction house method can also be very profitable. If you manage to get your hands on some end-game recipes, you’ll be able to create some pretty epic gear or item enchantments, for example, that sell like hot cakes.

Places to farm gold in Northrend

My favorite places to farm for gold in Northrend are in the Sholazar Basin. There are a lot of resources to gather here and also a lot of NPCs to work with. You can make a lot of gold with a miner-herbalist character in Sholazar, because there are a lot of saronite deposits and around 3 types of herbs that grow in this area. So with the following tracking macro/casting sequence Find Herbs, Track Minerals, you’ll always have 2-3 resource nodes on your radar.

Tips for Farming Gold in Northrend

  • Get yourself a tank character. Having a toon with tanky specs and gear will allow you to drop and kill large groups of mobs, which means more loot for you. If you don’t have a death knight yet, you should make one and train it like a tank, because you can start this class from level 55.
  • If you plan on becoming a druid, the best gathering profession for this class is Herbalism, because you can gather herbs while in flying form, which saves you a lot of time.
  • Choose the right growing place. How to do that? Well, it’s simple. Always aim for mobs that drop more than 2-3 types of valuable loot, mobs that are in places where you can also use their professions. For example, rhinos in Boreal Tundra drop Rhino and Chilled Meat, you can skin them for Boreal Leather and Arctic Fur and there are plenty of herbs and mineral nodes where these beasts roam.

Of course, there’s a lot more to learn about gold farming in Northrend than what I’ve covered here. So if you want to know everything about the gold crafting aspect of WoW, the most consistent information can be found in a WoW gold guide.
